I received a senseo pod brewer as a gift, and had been very disappointed with the coffee, until I tried this brand. I was ready to give up and go back to my traditional drip system, then I happened to find this brand at my local grocery store. Excellent coffee, full bodied and rich; it actually tastes like coffee! It is certainly worth the price. I was using multiple pods (up to four) for one cup of coffee, now I use half the pods, so actually it ends up being more economical.

Customer Review: Simply the best Italian espresso
Superb balance. Great lingering sweetness, not at all harsh, moderate brightness. Essentially everything that I search for in an espresso. The bean aroma is very sweet with hints of hazelnut shells. The roast is lighter than most of the Lavazza blends (although it was darker that the Tierra I tried) and much lighter than the beans you would find used in a popular America coffee franchise. In my opinion, this is what really lets this coffee shine, complementing the deep caramels with its restrained brightness and giving way to fruity notes. One very important note: do not simply seal this coffee in the can with the lid after you use it. The can is not airtight, and my first can was stale overnight. I thought that my barista skills were steadily declining, but when I opened the second can the difference in flavor and aroma were astounding. Place it immediately into an airtight container and use within a week. Too bad that this coffee is so expensive, or I would be pulling shots with it all the time. If you've never tried it, splurge a little. It will be memorable.

While the Kona Diamond reserve is the shinning jewel of pure Kona Coffee, the Espresso Blend is the gold standard for blended Kona coffees. More easily found (and less expensive!) than the pure stuff, the blends add the character of Kona coffee to your daily cup. While this won't replace pure Kona coffee in my book, it is a very admirable blend and one of the best non-pure Kona's I've ever tasted. And for the price, it is definitely worth purchasing. Not all of us can afford the premium java every time, and this is as close as it gets. Do yourself a favor and try this blend. From all the coffee varieties I've tasted, I have yet to find one better than this in this price range.

This coffee tastes weak and old. Cream is very thin. I don't know the roast date, but it still had about year and half to expiration date. This is strange by itself- top quality coffee is good for about 1 month after the roast. It can survive longer, when beans are packed in a nitrogen filled sealed container, but this coffee came in a regular valved bag. The beans are well roasted, not burned, maybe they'd tasted better when fresh. Gave it 2 stars because it is still better than a cheap coffee from a supermarket, which I consider 1 star benchmark.

I started out using the Lavazza ground espresso because these pods seemed a little pricey, but I could not be happier that I finally tried these! They are super easy, and much neater than grounds. ...it must be very good coffee. after years of searching for a coffee i would drink w/out thinking i was being poisoned by the bitter taste, we finally found one !!!! this is it!! ADMITTEDLY I MUST USE A CREAMER but it is still the first coffee i actually like . it does have an excellent caramel flavour and is nowhere near as bitter as all the rest i've tried. i put1/3 creamer , admittedly but as time goes on, i need less. thsi is a very nice caramel with far less bitter aftertaste than i have ever had. i like to drink coffee for the health benefits but until we found this particular brand and this specific flavour, i could not do it. somehow the makers of this paricular coffee have hit the goal of making a coffee that actually does taste more like a caramel drizzle than plain old coffee.thank goodness! as an avid coffee hater, i am quite pleased to find the only coffee i actually like!! so to coffee lovers, when your opposite loves it, it must be premium!!! caramel lovers owe it to themselves to try it.

Customer Review: Spicy and Strong
This is my favorite roast Cafe Altura makes. I make espresso with these beans every single day and I just love it. These beans are very oily, very strong, and has some complex flavors including spiciness. If you just love smooth italian espresso, then this could be too strong for you. It doesn't have so much of burnt flavor or bitterness, though espresso could get bitter sometimes if you grind them too fine or tamp too hard. I've never tried these in french press or drip, but my guess is that if it is brewed for correct amount of time, it will produce very nice coffee.

I have tried many different coffee's over the past severeal years and I am a hard customer to please. I ran across this coffee at my son's house and loved it. I love a bold coffee and this one tasted better than any of the coffee's I have had to date so I decided to join the coffee club as we go through quite a bit of coffee. I am a creature of habit and if I find one I really like I tend not to change. The beans are dark in color and have an oily (which I find are the best) look. I would highly recommend this coffee to anyone.

Customer Review: Very good hazelnut flavored coffee
The Melitta pods fit the Melitta One:One (single shot maker) and also the Juan Valdez. The pods are slightly smaller in size than the Senseo (made by Douwe Egbert) but similar in size. The coffee is a somewhat acidic, Central American blend and is flavored with a very nice hazelnut aroma. I am not a huge fan of flavored coffee, but this is by far one of their best and actually improves the coffee, overriding the acidity of the coffee itself with the sweetness of hazelnut. I find it doesn't need sugar (it isn't actually sweet, just smells sweet) but you may prefer some cream or sugar in yours. The Melitta is not as prevalent a brand as the Senseo but I purchased one on sale for my office to offer coffee to guests, and it's been very useful. You can run water through it with no pod (make some herb tea or cocoa) and there are tea pods for the unit that make good tea. The hazelnut is really great and we like keeping it on hand for our guests.

I have been roasting beans at home for about five years and my Freshroast machine finally quit. The Nesco was a birthday present. It warns you not to leave it unwatched but it is so noisy I had to put it out on the patio. I cleaned it with a brush after each use. After one week of use the auger must have frozen up and the beans caught on fire destroying the cup and I'm sure making the machine unusable. I would never buy this machine again. It's back to a Freshroast machine for me.

Customer Review: Nasty After Taste
I had been using Green Mountain MILK Hot Chocolate, which is good (my kids love it), but weak for a true chocoholic like myself. I thought since I like dark chocolate in general, I would try the DARK Hot Chocolate. Thankfully, I only bought a small quantity because it has a really nasty after taste to it that lingers. I'm going to stick with my weak milk hot chocolate and just make a smaller cup.
Customer Review: Best k-cup for non-coffee drinkers!
Enjoying a cup of coffee is not a great option for me because I only enjoy it with a lot of high calorie creamer. I have been buying the Gloria and Green Mountain original hot chocolates because they are only 1 WW (Weight Watcher) points. However, they always tasted watery and were just something I drank out of necessity to fill the void of snacking. Fast forward 50 pounds lighter and I purchased the Cafe Escapes Chai Latte and Dark Hot Chocolate at Bed Bath and Beyond (because it was all they carried and Amazon quit carrying the other brands) and I have never been so surprised! What a fantastic flavor! The Latte is 2 WW points and the Dark hot chocolate is 1 WW point. I can even use the highest water option and I still get a rich full taste. If you are looking for an alternative to coffee, this will not disappoint! The only way I could be happier this Holiday Season if Amazon started carrying this product with Prime shipping!

Like the previous reviewer, We bought this coffee as a result of the promotion and the free shipping. (very fast BTW) We've since ordered a generous amount prior to the closing of the promotion. We very much like the whole-bean breakfast blend. Brewing gives off a nice aroma, the beans are evenly roasted, and the taste is just right for us. We do recommend this organically grown coffee. It sure beats the national brands coffee from the supermarket.

This coffee is exceptional. Espresso dark and deep yet smooth. My only other comment is that this should properly be called an Italian roast as this is clearly beyond a French Roast.

Without a doubt, this is the smoothest whole bean coffee I've ever tasted. I don't know what biodynamic means, but it's delicious! For a French roast, it's not that bold. I use a Mr Coffee grinder (which I've reviewed in the past) and a Melitta single-serving drip cone. It's a basic setup. But everyone who's tried it RAVES about it. Even the cream&sugar crowd can drink this black. This is the perfect coffee to get non-coffee drinkers hooked. It tastes almost as good as it smells. The beans have an oily sheen. I don't know if that's some sort of edible sealant to keep the volatile flavor oils from wafting away, or if the beans are so full of flavor it's exuding from the surface. Either way, this is a winner. I haven't subscribed yet because I'd like to try the other Cafe Altura products before I commit to just one, but this one's certainly at the top of my list. I've ordered this one 4x already. I've noticed this thing has gotten pricier since the first time I bought it. I got two 32oz bags the first time appeared on Amazon. That's okay though. It's still cheaper than Trader Joe's and definitely tastier.

This product is really fantastic, but though it is easy to use, I will admit there is a learning curve. First though, this thing does not make espresso, it makes a coffee concentrate that is quite tasty or useful in its own right, but it is not espresso and lacks the crema you would get from a high pressure machine. That said, besides coffee I have actually used this as a wonderful cooking extraction tool as well, made my own (albeit watery) hot sauce, vegetable stock from the peelings of beets and celeriac, etc. Also can be used for some teas, as long as the tea is fine ground or you pre-moisten it a bit so the water does not drain out too fast. The control you have is great, I am a home coffee roaster and this allows me to get the most out of my fresh roasted beans (as long as they have set the requisite 8 to 12 hours at least, or else toe Co2 causes me on heck of an overfoam). It is very quick, and very easy to clean up, heating water might be an issue, but I use one of those digital kettles so i always have water at the proper temperature range (which is not the 175 the aeropress recommends in my opinion, but the proper 195 or so) either way this is a great device, the concentrate is great for cooking as well.
Customer Review: Totally handy little gadget for espresso!
This simple gadget makes pretty good espresso. It's not the creamy espresso that the $500 machine I used to have made, but I really don't care. This thing doesn't require cleaning with a toothbrush. It doesn't require high-maintenance- it basically requires NO maintenance and makes a serviceable espresso- better than the small coffeehouse down the street! This has allowed me to keep my latte habit despite the tougher enconomy and not feel like I've made too much of a sacrifice!
