I received my order of four (4) packs of this coffee yesterday and today, upon opening the bricks that were shrink-wrapped together, I noticed that one of the individual packages was clearly not vacuum sealed. Sure enough, at the bottom of the package, I could see a slice from what was most likely a straight razor used to open a box. Hmm...out with that package. (I should add that the shipping box was was in perfect condition.) Understandably, this type of thing can happen with packaging / stocking. Still, I'm a little disappointed that on my first order, only 3 out of 4 packages are any good.

We just got this yesterday and had some this morning. It is probably one of the best coffees I have ever tasted! It is perfectly balanced with a nice round taste and feel that is full bodied. No acidity at all, just creamy goodness. There is a wonderful taste nuance involved that is characteristic of a fine wine. I can not believe the price for this! I spent for 2 pounds less than what I have paid for 1 pound of other coffees and enjoyed this every bit as much or more. A definite keeper for my morning java.

The espresso is perfect, same if not better than what you get from ordinary coffee shops, and at 75 cents per shot, it is much cheaper than coffee shops. And if you take advantage of some of the promotions by Illy, the machine cost significantly less compared to machines that makes comparable espresso. If you love espresso, this is a steal! The only wish i have is that illy allowed compatible capsules of other brands. What I don't understand is the $19.74 "original" price listed by Amazon while Illyusa.com sells them at [...]. That said, with free shipping, you still get a good deal from Amazon.

With the Francis x8 and these capsules you get a nice shot of espresso with thick crema. The only reason I give it 3 instead of 5 stars is due to the price. Each capsule costs more than $0.75. I think you get a better deal with Lavazza Gran Crema ese pods which tastes better to me. If you buy the Lavazza pods 150 for about $50 from Amazon each pod costs less than half of the Illy capsules. The pods can be used with many machines including the Handpresso while the capsules can be only used with some of the Illy machines.

These pods fit the Senseo coffee maker and come individually sealed in foil to preserve freshness. They are a bit pricey, but it's a premier grade of coffee. Also, it's made from fair-traded coffee, and it's organic. The taste is a little unusual, with a hint of chocolate. It's naturally decaffeinated (no chemicals). For me, it's a keeper.

I bought this coffee for my Black & Decker Home Cafe pod brewer. Melitta claims right on the box that their pods are Universal and specifically states they are compatible with the Home Cafe. The first time I used one pod and set the brew cycle for a 9 ounce cup. The cup was completely transparent and watery, with just a tinge of goldish brown color. So, I tried again with 7 ounce brew setting, which produced an only slightly less weak cup which still looked more like light colored tea than coffee, Finally, as a last ditch effort, I decided to double up the pods, and was still disappointed at how weak and watery the product was. Maybe I received a bad batch, but what a disappointment.

I would give the iperEspresso Capsules a 3 for quality and convenience and for those preferring single shots over lattes it would be a reasonable choice if budget is no object. One capsule per cup is not satisfying and I find myself routinely using two capsules which starts becoming expensive. Switching between steam and coffee functions is a many step process similar to a manual machine. Now I will use my iperEspresso machine only when I travel or if I am serving company since it is faster than a manual machine. Overall my old illy Francis Francis X5 (if reviewed I would give it 5 stars) is much more to my liking since I can select from any coffees that interest me, grind the beans myself, and use the double shot filter for each cup. Also it accepts the illy E.S.E pods as an option. Further I like the sturdy metal construction over the plastic iperEspresso machine I choose. Illy iperEspresso is a good system but turned out not being appropriate for me.

I drink tea every day, but I do enjoy the occasional cup of coffee every once in a while. Because of that, I can justify paying premium prices for good coffee. Let me tell you, this coffee is worth its weight in gold. I had actually purchased the coffee without realizing that the beans were whole-bean. I quickly purchased a grinder. The grinder came four days after the coffee did. If I had known how good this coffee was beforehand, those four days would have been torture. Mind you, I'm basing this review on the fact that I have only brewed one pot so far, but one pot was all it took. This coffee is amazingly silky smooth and doesn't leave a harsh aftertaste like other coffees. It's a little on the light side, so if you like your coffee strong, I'd recommend about 1.5-2 rounded tablespoons per cup. I am definitely a believer in Kona Coffee now. I will be buying more of this in the future for myself and as gifts, though I'll probably use it before I have a chance to give it out.

Customer Review: A little bit disappointed
We bought this coffee as a replacement for Lavazza Supercrema while my wife cannot drink caffeine, and found it of uneven quality. We use it for making espresso in a Saeco Odea Giro, which brews consistently high-quality espresso from the Supercrema beans. However, some of the espressos from this decaf were excellent while other brews had a bit of a weird taste. Whether it's due to the visible inhomogeneity of the beans, I cannot tell. Or maybe this coffee is for what it says: drip coffee. Either way, we'll keep looking for better espresso beans. :-)

Customer Review: Great Alternative to Caffeine!
I originally started drinking Cafe Altura Dark Roast Decaf when I was pregnant, as I wanted to avoid caffeine. I chose this decaf because it's made with the Swiss Water Method, meaning there are absolutely no harmful chemicals. I continued to drink the Dark Roast while breastfeeding, but after that I started drinking regular coffee again. However, after just a month, I'm switching back to this Dark Roast Decaf. I like the taste, and I feel healthier drinking it. Like the previous reviewer, I probably make it a little stronger than the instructions specify--but then I do that with all coffee. If you're looking for a healthy alternative way to start your day (sans Folgers in your cup), this is a good option.

Aloha Island Coffee Company Bonzai Pipeline Dark Roast is a very mediocre, insipid coffee, rather acidic for a dark roast. The beans are of unknown origin, but if there are any Kona beans in this anonymous mix, they must be the ones other roasters threw out as it doesn't even vaguely taste like Kona. Actually, Aloha Island Coffee Co. isn't even in Hawaii, it's located in Santa Ana, CA, an area not exactly known for great coffee. The coffee is extremely overpriced for the poor quality you get, which is why I gave it one star, and you would be better off buying some of the better brands commonly sold in supermarkets at about one-third the price. I ordered the 2-8 oz bags, but I couldn't even make it through the first one and have thrown the second in the garbage. I would never buy anything from Aloha Island Coffee company again.

Perfect for superautomatic espresso machines (beans are not greasy). I've saved thousands of dollars over the past five years making my own lattes, cappuccinos and mochas at home. The current coffee count on my superautomatic Gaggia 90501 Titanium SS Super Automatic Espresso and Cappuccino Machine, Stainless Steel is 4,255. "Charbucks" charges $3.20 for a one-shot latte using burnt-tasting espresso - 4,255 lattes over five years would have cost me $13,616! A bi-monthly subscription to Lavazza beans is the only way to go.

This used to be the real great one in Northern Italian style espresso - half the price of Illy Normale, and more consistent. But that's apparently all over now. I have just had exactly the same experience as D. Cocco reports above. The coffee was stale, and completely changed - way overbalanced toward one, particularly strong flavor. I sent a respectful email to them about this, and received no reply. It wasn't necessary to pay the premium price for imported Italian coffee anyway; it's just that this one was a particular favorite, so I'd spring for it once in a while. But there are better choices, and for a lot less. Dean's Beans, for instance.

Customer Review: Questionable quality for the investment.
I felt compelled to share a recent issue with our Cuisinart Supreme Grind. A little background: We have owned this unit for approx. 2 years. It is used 2 to 3 times per week. The quality of the grind, regardless of the setting, is accurate and consistent. Just recently the clear bean carrier or basket, broke completely off where it connects in the unit. This happened while the grinding was taking place. No, the unit was not dropped, tipped over or handled without the utmost in care. Yet, this component broke cleanly off where it meets the blade area in the unit. We are disappointed to say the least! Is this a design flaw? A materials faliure? The unit is out of warranty and Cuisinart will offer no repair or replacement. You be the judge. : ( (I might add, the unit was not available, 2 years ago, in the current price range. It was more typical to see it priced closer to retail.)

This coffee grinder is the best grinder that I have ever had. I love the burring system as opposed to the blades. The fact that I only have to push the button and walk away is very important to me. I had to do a couple test runs before getting the exact strength that I prefer but that was it. Unlike the inferior grinders out there this one will hold an entire half pound of beans! This cuts down on measuring with each pot! A spectacular product and well worth what I paid for it.

I love this coffee. My coffee maker makes 14 cups of coffee and I drink every bit of it. The flavor is so refreshing. I don't buy any other flavors. No Starbucks for me.
Customer Review: Great tasting coffee
This Vanilla Biscotti flavor is one of my favorite coffees. Great flavor. Is truly the epitome of curling up with a good book by the fire kind of coffee. Folgers does a great job on their Gourment coffees.

Customer Review: Makes a great cup of coffee
To reiterate what M. Collins stated in his/her review "People please keep in mind that the Mocha means Indonesian and Ethiopian bean blended coffee. It is not a Mocha Chocolate as some are used to. It is usually named MOKA JAVA" Thank for that great tip. For a medium blend this is a smooth full bodied coffee with little acidity and after taste. I don't like a coffee that stays on your palate and with you most of the day. I drink my coffee with Liquid creamer and a sugar Substitute. Great flavor if you don't like a coffee that "bites Back"
Customer Review: my very favorite
I started drinking Mocha Java (which is Not a flavored coffee as so many might think because of the 'mocha" but is rather a region for beans to grow) when I had a subscription to Gevalia coffee and loved the rich flavor of this coffee. When I got my Keurig I thought I would still have to get the coffee from Gevalia and make it through the filter. Since I enjoyed Gevalia coffee so much, I was somewhat skeptical to try the K-cap since they tend to be a darker roast than I like. Wow was I surprised to find the Timothy's brand to be quite smooth, rich and just a great cup of coffee. I drink my coffee black, so it is important that it not have too much acid and this one is just great. I have it on my Suscribe and Save to get every month but if I am not careful I can drink this up in no time at all! It's a little pricy but so worth it to me to indulge and no calories!

Customer Review: Better than Senseo pods
Pod coffee is as good as the pods used. Senseo pods are good and widely available but Baronet taste better. Baronet are also fair-trade and organic, Senseo are not. The automatic order option guarantees I get the best price and never run out of pods (unimaginable).
Customer Review: Excellent coffee when prepared well.
It took me about 4 days to figure out the best way to prepare this coffee in my Senseo machine. These pods are too large to fit in the single pod holder in my machine, but they make delicious coffee using one pod in the 2-pod holder. But, the double pod holder needs to be hot and wet, and the pod wet with a bit of hot water, in order to make a strong cup of coffee. I think it's important for the pod to be wet and squeezed into the pre-heated holder. I say all this because it took me awhile to figure out, and I knew to keep trying because the other reviews of these pods are so positive. If your coffee isn't delicious with the pod, or it's a little weak, it's not the coffee but the machine. The coffee is excellent.

Customer Review: Just not real espresso
I was hopeful, but left unsatisfied. The color of the bean grounds says it all; a light brown not the typical dark brown to black of real espresso. Taste is weak and odd, not rich and solid. Certainly not worth the extra $$. Recommend Cafe Bustelo instead.
Customer Review: Best for authentic Italian espresso
My Italian cousin-in-law recently taught me how to make real authentic Italian espresso and cappuccino and Lavazza is her first choice over all other brands. It is so rich and smooth and I have to agree after we ran out of Lavazza and went hunting unsuccessfully for more and ended up buying two other brands. No comparison as there was such a difference in taste. I threw out the other two cans and went hunting on the internet that night and found it the cheapest on Amazon (my favorite place to shop on the Internet). Anyway, signed up for the subscription service and LOVE it. Just about when I was on my last can of Lavazza, here comes an e-mail notifying me that Amazon was about to make another shipment. Perfect timing. Love, love, love this service. By the way, my husband is a die-hard Starbucks fan (very strong coffee) and likes his best as a blend of Lavazza and Starbucks.
