Coffee Beans Benghalensis Review
Characteristics:
Coffee Beans Benghalensis, which is also
called Bengal Coffee, is a little known
bean that is grown in remote parts of
Africa. This coffee is used for
medicinal purposes, as well as a coffee
drink.
Coffea Benghalensis consists of long,
thin leaves and small white flowers. The
beans from this plant are larger than
most other beans. When roasted to make
coffee, an oil is produced which has
antiseptic properties.
Where it is Planted:
Bengal Coffee thrives in both tropical
and sub tropical climates. Frost,
drought and disease will kill this
plant, as it isn’t very hardy. However,
flooding conditions will also kill the
plant. Finding a suitable location to
plant the beans is difficult. This, in
part, accounts for the high cost and
limited supply of this coffea variety.
The Coffee Benghalensis tree has thick
burrowing roots, which makes it
impossible to grow in most greenhouses.
Nevertheless, some commercial coffee
growers have managed to cultivate the
plant in a floorless greenhouse. But,
this method is extremely costly, which
significantly increases the already
expensive price of the beans.
How it Tastes:
Coffea Benghalensis has a strong,
earthy flavor, much like that of Coffea
Robusta. When it is brewed alone,
drinkers will notice a distinct burnt
flavor.
Blending with Other Beans:
Because of the high cost of the beans,
Coffea Benghalensis is rarely
blended with other beans. However,
coffee aficionados may find that
blending this bean with Coffea Robusta
and Coffea Liberica produces a very
satisfying drink.
This combination is sure to keep the
drinker awake, as both Coffea Robusta
and Coffea Benghalensis contain large
amounts of caffeine.
